At age 12 he joined his first brass band in Bennebroek. After refining his musical expertise at teacher's college in Holland, he involved himself in music education and performance in Canada. For the past 45 years, Henry has taught vocal and instrumental music in various Christian schools, conducted several mass and individual choirs and played the organ in various churches. He studied voice with Mr. Albert Greer, a renowned tenor and professor of music at York University. Since 1994 he has directed the Crusaders Male Choir.

Wel heeft hij nog geprobeerd om de strop los te maken want zijn vingers waren helemaal verstijf en blauw maar dat is niet gelukt en het is hem noodlottig geworden. Zijn vader heeft hem gevonden toen die van zijn werk thuis kwam en Jelmer zag hangen in het trapgat. Je kan je voorstellen hoe een drama dat is geweest. Cremated on 14-03-2006 in Heerenveen. Begraafplaats nieuweschoot Heerenveen-zuid.
